Abstract: Metastatic cervical carcinoma with an unknown primary (MCCUP) represents a heterogeneous group syndrome of cancers. The current data were analyzed, and the diagnosis and treatment progress of MCCUP were stated. Positron emission tomography computed/tomography(PET/CT) has a high value in the detection of primary tumors in patients with MCCUP. Panendoscopy and molecular testing, such as microRNA signatures and microsatellite analysis, also improve the diagnosis of MCCUP. Surgery and radiation therapy remain the main approaches of MCCUP treatment. Most doctors agree that surgery is the first choice for patients with N_1-2 disease. However, radiotherapy still plays an important role in the treatment of MCCUP. Today, salivarypreserving intensity-modulated radiation therapy has become the standard radiation technique for MCCUP.
